So you want to get to know me? | Personal | Cami Thompson Photography-Omaha, NE Photographer

This is a hard one for me, I'm not much of writer. So here I go with a few things about me that may surprise you.

My family is very important to me. I love getting to go to my girls' sporting events and being around my girls and husband. I believe I can have both things in life, my family and my career. I do plan things around my daughters' events, I try to not work on the computer in the evenings or the weekends. I want to be present in my family's lives and not have to regret missing the things that are only happening now. The one thing I did not like about working in the corporate world was that I had to miss everything that went on at my daughters' school during the day, muffins with mom, music programs, eating lunch with the star student. I am so thankful that I get to enjoy these moments now with my girls and occasionally a lunch date with the hubs.

I am, in fact, an introvert, I enjoy talking to people and being social, however I love being at home watching a movie. I love quiet time. I can carry on a conversation with others, but am generally cautious about starting those conversations. I'm working on that, and for the most part I think I do pretty good with my clients, at least I hope you think I do.

I was born in Colorado, I only lived there for a few short months. However I feel that is where I belong. I can't begin to describe it, but the last time I was in the mountains, I had the feeling this is where I am supposed to be. It’s not just the mountains though, it’s also the ocean. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a marine biologist, I still do. When people ask where would your dream location be, I'd have to say I need the ocean and the mountains in my life. I cannot wait for the day that I get to visit Seattle and then head up to Vancouver.  Traveling around the world would be an amazing adventure. One day I hope to make it happen.

I love animals, everything from dogs to whales. If I could live on a farm, I would rescue a million dogs and have them all live on my farm. I love dogs so much that I started a passion project - Lexi's Legacy. I haven't been able to utilize it as much as I would like and I think that's just because people don't know a lot about it. My hopes are that I can help even just a few families keep memories alive by photographing their sweet pups before they pass. I know this is not an easy time, when you find out your dog, your furry family member, is going to pass. For me, it was the day I found out my dog, Lexi, needed to be put down. She became an instant inspiration. When it happened to me, I was in shock that we would not be taking our girl home with us and I was devastated. I am so thankful I took photos of her the day before, even if they are just snapshots. Lexi’s Legacy is my way of helping make sure other families can cherish those memories also.

Most of the time when you see me, I'm wearing yoga pants and a t-shirt, with my hair in a ponytail. I do wear real clothes, I promise. I just prefer to be comfortable at my sessions, since I know I'll be moving all over the place. Who am I kidding, that is pretty much my everyday wear and I only get dressed up if I'm going some place. I could live in a hoodie and yoga pants.

Maybe some of these things you already knew about me. One thing is for sure I do have a lot of passion in my heart for things of beauty. I love creating art for you and if I can do that in a gorgeous location, well that just makes my heart happy. I hope you enjoyed reading this and getting to know me a little better.
